As you all are aware, with the advent of the coronavirus, MSUB on March 16th shut down all in person classes and student activities on the campus. This included the work of student groups such as United Campus Ministry
We know this will continue in the summertime. MSUB is working in consultation with all the Montana campuses to come up with a plan that could allow students to return with some measure of safety this fall.
We do not know what procedures will need to be in place and if the coronavirus will cooperate in this effort. Our hope is that we can have personal meetings with students, even if there are limits to the kind of events we can host.
One of the last restrictions, as things open, will be holding large gatherings. In lieu of this, we are playing it by ear if we are going to be hosting our fall annual dinner or not. But we do know we will have a fall fundraiser, if not in person, then online.
In the time of coronavirus, it becomes doubly important to support the work of your local congregations and mission programs and yes UCM. The pastoral needs the virus presents, the need for community is all the greater.
As this is developed, find out more by following UCM on Facebook at facebook.com/unitedcampusministry.msub/ and on the web at http://ucm-msub.org/
Wednesday check ins, we have become adept at zoom meetings to check in on students and students check in with each other. On Wednesday afternoons we are about life, society, faith, politics, gaming, studies whatever is occupying us currently.
Friday Game Day with new online games it is possible to use zoom to meet and play card games with each other. So, we meet every Friday afternoon to do just that
Faith During the Pandemic We have been holding a weekly book study. Our book is Faith During the Pandemic by UCC minister, Bruce Epperly. Where is God in the mist of the coronavirus and what kind of response is the church called to in this season is being discussed by students and church members. MSUB Student Leaders is a Facebook group to connect MSUB student leaders, both in UCM but other ministries and student groups to share ideas, meetings, discussion and online events with one another. UCM established this group to also create communication with student groups and MSUB’s Center for Engagement
